Rochdale Hope Chapel is an outstanding Grade II* Listed historic building, a hidden gem located close to the centre of the Lancashire town of Rochdale, which has survived largely unaltered since 1848.
It retains it’s magnificent original interior fixtures and fittings. It’s also a building steeped in history, having been associated with many godly ministers and people over the two hundred years of it’s existence.
Worship services in the chapel ceased in 2019 when the church meeting in the building was sadly dissolved. But amazingly, God laid it on the hearts of a number of like-minded friends to purchase back the building in 2022, with a vision to reopen it for the benefit of the local community and to the glory of God. We hope to commence a Heritage Centre in the building, displaying and illustrating the chapel and many aspects it’s fascinating history, as well as the lessons we can learn from it for today. We believe that Rochdale Hope Chapel has a message which the town of Rochdale and the surrounding area should hear.
We welcome all to come and visit us, even if you have never been in a place of worship before in your life. Come and enjoy a bowl of soup or a cup of tea with us, and take time to look around, or just have a break and come to yourself. We want to be there for you, to show care, interest and concern, whoever you are. The plan is that Hope Chapel will also be used as a place of Christian worship again, God willing, as it was for more than 200 years from 1810 until 2019.
